City Lights

The lights of Dublin shimmer,
spread out like glitter thrown across paper.
It is a beautiful tableau of home.
The darkness makes everything shine out,
and from a height the lights are inviting.
I suddenly understand the moth’s attraction to flame,
the amber and yellow calls to me,
speaks of safety, of home.
I look out across my city,
my mind’s space,
And feel warm.
