Night Shift

I turn the clock upside down,
set my eyes to dark
& sleep in day.
I walk past people on opposite
times to me.
They are perky to my pale
bright eyes to my bleary.
I catch naps as fleeting fancies
blowing past me on the wind.
It presses my eyes heavy,
whispers soothing words.
The journey home is more than
torturously long.
