It’s been a long day,
Eyes wide and learning,
Trying to find a new way of thinking
about me and you.
A new angle
to squeeze some perspective into.
A wider view.
Camera tricks
to hide the missing pieces,
a panoramic picture of my life,
past and future.
It’s hard to see the detail,
zoom in on smudged ink and try to see
if you’ll still be there tomorrow.
It’s been a long day,
cut and pasted versions of us on paper,
laid out flat and studied.
Magnified times and places,
trying to find and pinpoint the day
when you slipped away.
